Cravings,
WE all have them.
But I always wondered whether their was such things as the right type of cravings? And if so, how could we satisfy our bodies, be healthy, and crave desirable things?
It all began like this for me: I began noticing each month my cravings went from outrageous, to manageable, to calm.
I felt determined to change my eating habits, and what my body craved from the traditional, cookies, brownies, cakes, sweet indulgence. No matter where I go or end up, this we'll always be my first choice.
You also may wonder, why did I need to do this? Or whether my weight was/is an issue?
The simple truth to this is No not at all, my weight was stable, and never had an issues with obesity. What concerned me was my family history, diabetes, cancer, and lack of self discipline with my cravings.
I consider my body to be a temple, and investment, and a vessel that would guide my pathway through life. Once your health is gone you can never get it back.
I began keeping a food journal for 2 weeks, especially when any body changes occurred and when I felt my cravings heightened.
Each time I felt a craving coming on I would find substitutes like: Organic Clif Bars instead of candy bars; Instead of having Soda, such as diet Pepsi or Coke, I decided to have a choice of Mineral Water or Sparkling water,(for flavoring with fewer calories/ sugar and high fructose corn syrup for flavorings I could add cranberry juice for antioxidants, apple juice, or a raspberry natural juice or flavoring.)
And for ruffage and those dark leafy greens, I made salads, that incorporated a lot of nutritional value
This salad contained Spinach and Romaine Lettuce. My side decolage included: Fried Noodles, Parmesan Cheese, julienne style shredded Carrots, Edamame, grilled Buffalo Chicken.
My dressing choice is: Balsamic Vinaigrette. Seasoning: Black pepper.
The salad without dressing which I tried, was excellent.
I did this twice to three times a week and I saw results in my body as well as in my cravings.
Your body begins to adapt to what you give it. Healthy Cravings take time.
Instead of craving fries or chips, when I am away, at home, or out (where temptations are readily available), my body sends alerts on when to have your veggies! When to eat well/
Eating well is a lifestyle, not just a craving.
Cravings are where it begins.
Blessings ~
Love, A.
